Are You Programmed for the Life You Want?

I had what felt like a mystical experience while exercising on the elliptical machine at the gym yesterday. There I was, thinking about life with my ears connected to my iPod when the lyrics from an old favorite hit me in a way I’d never experienced before. It was Earth, Wind & Fire‘s Fantasy. I was so moved that I repeated the song over and over again, embracing the words and visualizing what it would be like if the scene in my mind could be given a life.

For me this scene is a vision of people coming together to support one another to create a life that is fired by love, passion and purpose. As I visualize this, I feel a pulsating energy that connects everyone in the understanding that there is no limit to what we can create if we believe in our power and put our minds and bodies to work on it. It’s an energy of collective support where we guide each other in the reaching for our stars, forever reminding one another that you can do it.

I don’t expect my dreams to come true overnight, but I recognize their growth as I feed them. I also recognize how the support that I get from others keeps me reaching towards creating the life I dream about. And in reaching I am creating it. It seems so simple, really. So am I crazy to suggest that if we all supported each other to keep reaching, we could transform this world to fantasy-like? Who says our expectations of life must be mediocre?

Thanks to Maurice White, Eddie Delbarrio, and Verdine White for penning these lyrics which have set a fire to my heart, and to the inspiration from Clyde of Feeling Good that there was gold to be found in our favorite songs.

Keep on reaching. You can do it. To our together creation of this world,

Every man has a place, in his heart there’s a space,
And the world can’t erase his fantasies.
Take a ride in the sky, on our ship fantasii
All your dreams will come true, right away.

And we will live together, until the twelfth of never
Our voices will ring forever, as one.

Every thought is a dream, rushing by in a stream,
Bringing life to our kingdom of doing.
Take a ride in the sky, on our ship fantasii
All your dreams will come true, miles away.

Our voices will ring together until the twelfth of never,
We all, will live forever, as one.

Come see victory, in the land called fantasy
Loving life, a new decree,
Bring your mind to everlasting liberty.

Our minds will explore together, old worlds, we conquer, forever
We then, will expand love together, as one.

Come to see, victory in a land called fantasy,
Loving life, for you and me, to behold, to your soul is ecstasy.
You will find, other kind, that has been in search for you,
Many lives has brought you to
Recognize its your life, now in review.
And as you stay for the play, fantasy, has in store for you,
A glowing light will see you through.

It’s your day, shining day, all your dreams come true.
As you glide, in your stride with the wind, as you fly away
Give a smile, from your lips, and say
I am free, yes I’m free, now I’m on my way.

Your Past is Not Your Destiny

I was reminded of a very important principle today through one of my brothers who is maneuvering through some pretty hard times. I think that it is one of those ideas that is so simple that we don’t take it seriously or one that we let just slip through our fingers. It is the idea that every moment of every day offers the invitation to create your life. Just because your life has been one way for years and years doesn’t mean that there doesn’t lie the opportunity for it to look and feel completely different. The only thing that stands in the way of creating the life you want to live is your belief that it is possible and taking the necessary steps to make it happen.

I was a chubby girl in my youth. I remember assuming that I would never be anything but chubby until I woke up one day in the summer that I was nineteen tired of being fat. So that day I started eating differently and over the course of a few months, my body changed. As I look back now, I can see a number of unhealthy habits that I’ve let go of through the years that I never thought I’d have the strength to overcome. Every one of these changes started with one day where I considered that I could make a choice to do something a little bit differently.

Choice is the greatest gift that we could ever receive. It gives you the total freedom to reach for anything you want. Choice is beautiful because it is a neutral act. It isn’t given with a voice that says back to you that you can’t do or be something. If you hear that message, then you need to tap yourself on the shoulder and ask what you can do to get out of your own way. Remember that choice offers you a platter of unlimited possibilities. Don’t accept limits on what you can make of your life.

Visualizing Your Ideal Work Life

I didn’t realize just how fuzzy my vision for my ideal work life was until I sat down to create a clearer picture. I now hold that picture in my mind and it helps me to be clear on where I need to invest my time and energy to take steps closer to making this vision my reality. If you are serious about wanting to make your work life better in some way, then give yourself the gift of making a commitment to the process below.

Set aside some quiet time to sit in a comfortable position with a journal. Think about what you want to create with crystal clarity. If it is a new career or starting your own business, for example, what does your workplace look like? How is it decorated? What is the mood? How would you describe its location? Imagine yourself driving (or walking) up to the building and into the front door. What does it feel like to be inside the building? Imagine the activity of your workplace. Do you have clients coming in and out or do you work heavily on your own? What is your work schedule? What are you wearing to work? Do you travel? Where to and how? What kinds of clients do you have? What do they look like? What does relating with them feel like? What are the exact services that you provide? How are your clients helped by you? How often do they see you? How do you feel when you are working? What does it feel like to leave your workplace at the end of each day? What are you known for? What provides you with the most satisfaction? Think through all the details so that you can see this image in your mind as clearly as you can see your current reality. Then write a description of everything you see and imagine in your journal so clearly that someone else who read it would have the same clarity.

You have now created your vision. Take your vision and engrave it as a picture in your mind. This is not simply an exercise to do once and let go of. It is one to revisit in your mind’s eye as frequently as possible. By revisiting your vision, you remind yourself constantly of what you want to accomplish. This will help you to make decisions about where you need to invest your time and what action steps will take you closer. This vision will be your ongoing compass that will chart you in the right direction. Can you see how the more vividly you can see your vision the more easily you will enable your life to become it?

Thank you for visiting. I’m wishing you the richest of journeys!

An Invitation that Will Change Your Life

What if you knew you had the power to create whatever reality you wanted and were given fail-safe instructions on how to go about it?  Would you do it?  Trick question?  No.  But think about it for a moment.

If you’ve found your way to this blog, chances are you’ve heard all about The Secret and the Law of Attraction.  Like me, then, you’ve been taught that we create our lives through our minds.  By thinking about what we want and visualizing it as our reality, we express our God-given role as  creators.  That is, if we believe we have this power and we actually employ it.  My guess is that this is where most of us fall down.  At least I do.  Not always, but much of the time.  I want to get better about engaging my power because I know that it works.  I’ve seen it.

I look back at a large account I once landed when everyone else on the team didn’t think we had a chance in hell.  I prepared and practiced in my mind a killer presentation that was fired with faith.  Then I look at other things I’ve manifested through visualization even though my faith more resembled blind hope.  But it worked anyway.  I’m beginning to build the career I’ve always dreamed about and I have a wonderful partner both in love and business.  Yet still I remain a lazy visualizer.

It doesn’t really matter why I expend more energy trying to fit into my jeans than I do practicing the power of visualization.  It’s enough to recognize it so that I can commit to changing it.  So I am beginning today.  And your presence here is going to help me.  I’m going to start each blog day off by calling attention to this power we have by exercising it a bit.  I invite you to join me in your own process.  So let’s start right now.

Think about a relationship that you wish to attract, maintain or improve.  Take a moment to visualize what this person looks like.  Imagine them walking through the door of your home early one evening.  Imagine what is expressed verbally and physically.  Think about how it feels to engage with this person and stand close to them.  Imagine the evening unfolding.  What does the energy between you feel like?  How are you spending your time together?  What are you talking about?  What is the tone?  Once you have a clear vision of what it looks and feels like to spend an evening with this person, allow your mind to imagine glimpses of other times with him or her.  What kinds of things do you do together?  How do you connect?  How do you feel? Create enough of these pictures in your mind so as to have captured random moments that are like photographs in an album that is a tribute to your relationship.  Make a point to add more snapshots in your mind as you think about it throughout the day.

Thank you for joining me as we experiment together with the power we have to create what we want in our lives.  I’d love for you to comment on your experiences so that together we can inspire each other!

Creative Energy in Motion

I don’t know about you, but I am patience challenged. When I want to manifest something, I want it to happen overnight. Yet I’ve learned that you cannot manifest something that has not been first cultivated in your mind. The Law of Attraction isn’t like rubbing a magic lantern and walking away, waiting for a wish to be granted. It’s about building something from the inside out. It’s about using your mind to diagram what it is that you wish to create, then supporting its form through the thoughts and words you express about it.

Your thoughts are the building blocks for what you experience in life. Whatever you create first begins as an idea in your mind. As you think more and more about your idea, it begins to build momentum. Once your idea becomes stronger, you begin talking about it. The energy of your spoken words lights a fire under the building momentum. Soon there is tremendous energy behind it. Your idea is now whirling in motion with such forceful energy that it begins to attract whatever is needed to complete its vision. This is creative energy in motion. You keep the creative energy whirling as you stay aligned with your vision through your thoughts, words, and actions. This energy will continue to attract whatever is in alignment with it.

Think of your thoughts and words as being like atoms that produce energy. Different kinds of thoughts are expressed as different vibrations of energy. Perhaps you’ve felt the difference in energy between a “yes” and a “no” answer. Thoughts of prosperity and health vibrate at a different level than those of lack or negativity. Think of prosperous and healthy thoughts as nourishing vitamins for the growth of your creation. Think of thoughts of lack or other types of negativity as stunting the growth of your creation. With every thought and every word you express, you either bring your intention closer or push it further away. This makes it very important to be conscious of your thoughts as well as the words that you send out to the universe.

So whenever you are thinking or talking about a desire you have, ask yourself if you are bringing it closer or pushing it away. It’s not that hard. It just requires that you pay attention. But isn’t it worth it?

Here’s to an amazing journey!

cultivating the power of your words

Many of us are waking up to the idea that whatever manifests in your life is a result of your thoughts.  This awareness brings with it the importance of monitoring your thoughts.  Most of us were not taught to associate thoughts or words as having energy, yet their fueling power is enormous.  We are now a society that recognizes that our bodies are a result of what we eat.  We have also come to appreciate that our environment is a product of what we dump into it.  Following these two awakenings is the idea that your experiences are a result of your thoughts.

Consider also the power of your words.  They are thoughts you have charged into motion through verbal energy.  Just like carbon atoms can turn a piece of fresh bread into burnt toast, negative words can handicap your greatest intent.  And with enough volume, negative thinking can be crippling.

You must be conscious of the power that your words have in the creation process.  Think of your words as either nutritious fuel or poisonous gas and mind yourself accordingly.  This requires a commitment to honor your truth with the words you choose.  It requires that you take great care with your words, whether you are speaking to yourself, your partner, or a stranger at a party.

Sometimes out of fear of how we will be received, we may protect ourselves and our true desires by tossing words out into the Universe that don’t at all support the direction we wish to move towards.  Without being conscious about the power of your words, you can dump a puddle of poisonous gas on your most cherished dream.

If you truly believed in the power of your thoughts and words, would you be willing to extend some energy in monitoring them?  Are you willing to begin now?

Thanks for visiting.  I’m wishing you an amazing journey.

Tips for Raising Your Vibration

I owe this post to a couple of my fellow inspirational bloggers, Grace from and Clyde from who have tagged me to participate in a game which promotes the sharing of ideas that inspire spiritual and personal growth. This game, which invites the contribution of ideas for raising one’s energetic vibration, is the brainchild of Cardin Routh from OptimistLab.

I’ve been a student of metaphysics for a dozen years now, yet it seems like it has only been in the last couple that I recall having a true open-mindedness about the concept of vibration. How interesting that this coincides with my exit from the corporate world, where I felt like I had to guard my spiritual beliefs in fear that I’d be looked upon like I had two heads. It’s hard to embrace ideas that are not in alignment with your exterior world. My corporate environment was about the energy of selling widgets, not attracting them.

Now that I’ve committed my life to the promotion of spiritual expression, I am very much in touch with this idea that we have control over the level in which our energy vibrates. We choose how bright we enable our lights to shine. How refreshing it is has been in my own spiritual development to come clean, to speak outwardly about the ideas that live in my heart. So I suppose that is my first tip for raising your vibration—

Seek an alignment with your inner and outer worlds. Give your essence an authentic life in which to express itself.

For me that authenticity means striving to give my spirit the priority over my human nature. In dedicating my energies towards raising the vibration or light on this planet, I know that means that every encounter counts, not just the ones where I’m mentoring clients or sitting at my computer writing. I seek to share my real heart with everyone I touch from the grocery store clerk to the laborers I pass on my running route.

Cherish every moment as an opportunity to shine your light.

Raising your vibration comes through the practice of living as a being of energy. I recognize it is my choice to jump out of bed each morning like a machine who showers and puts on make-up and clothes or one who is a spiritual being that is led through the day by a divine purpose.

Your light shines brighter through your focus on being a light.

I’ve come to take my role as a light worker seriously. I believe that I am one of many. And I don’t believe it is a coincidence that we have come to this planet at this particular time in history. How interesting it is that a global climate that is in such dire need for change has been primed in recent decades by the human potential movement. I appreciate the work that those who have come before me have done to lay the foundation for the shift in consciousness that is now unfolding.

You raise your level of vibration by responding to the events of your life from a perspective of spiritual meaning.

How interesting also that this revolution is unfolding at a time where technology has paved the way for light workers to spread their messages throughout the world in this venue we call the internet which can touch millions of people at any given moment.

Sharing your thoughts and beliefs increases their vibration.

I’d like to acknowledge the bloggers on my blogroll for their efforts in raising the vibration of our planet. The more we share at this level, the more our vibration expands. Let there be light!

Thanks for visiting.

In peace and light,

law of attraction: letting heart have a say

“I am responsible for what I see.
I choose the feelings I experience, and
I decide upon the goal I would achieve.
And everything that seems to happen to me
I ask for, and receive as I have asked.”

A Course in Miracles

I was pondering over these lines today while I was sitting outside in the luscious warmth of the late spring California sunshine. Gazing about my waterfront surroundings, it occurred to me that there was something I might learn about my own manifestation in these words.

I am often in awe of the jewel of a home I literally stumbled across ten years ago. My house is nothing fancy yet its foundation sits on a peaceful waterfront peninsula which is home to waterfowl, palm trees and boats of all kinds. As I sat out on my deck this morning thinking about these lines from A Course in Miracles, it caused me to wonder exactly how I had come to manifest such an amazing place to hang my hat. Ten years ago was a long way back in my rear view mirror, as my boyfriend Dean would say. I was a very different person at that time. My focus was on pushing forward in my corporate status and bringing home increasing amounts of money. My consciousness was a long ways away from seeing my home as a haven for inspirational writing. It was a dream that lived inside of me, yet one my ego never thought I’d have the guts to pursue.

When I was in the midst of writing my first book, Unleashing Your Soul, I spent a lot of time editing outside on my deck. I thought how perfect it was that I had this serene spot in which to do the work of my heart. Now two years later as I am more deeply committed to my mission, I ask myself, just how did I ask for this? And when?

Never once did I visualize living by the water. My optimistic nature held the expectation that I’d find a home that I would love, yet I never pictured this. This tells me that the law of attraction goes to work from levels of our consciousness that we are not totally in touch with. I can see how this has played out in my own experience.

When I first went outside to study this morning I brought a twinge of guilt with me. A little voice was telling me that I should feel guilty about the fact that I was out enjoying the sunshine while so many people were inside, spending their days at jobs they don’t really care about. That was my ego voice talking. I knew I didn’t really believe that. Just looking at where I live showed me an illustration of what my real beliefs are. They are those thoughts that I entertain in the privacy of my inner being. It’s exactly these ideas and speculations that I have about my life that justify everything that is now my reality. I may not even be ready to share all those thoughts with those I am closest to, yet it seems pretty clear that they are those from which my experiences manifest. It’s the truths that my heart dares to speak and not the fearful voice that wants me to live small.

Aha. It seems that your heart has a say in the law of attraction…that is, if you give it a voice with a dose of authority.

Thanks for visiting. May you experience the law of attraction working in your favor every day.

what is stopping you?

What if you were to trust that in every moment of every day of your life you are exactly where you are supposed to be?

What if you were to believe that however chaotic or painful it might look on the outside, that everything is always in perfect order for your highest good?

What would you have to worry about if you decided to fully buy into the laws of abundance and attraction?

The only thing getting in your way of inner peace, prosperity and the manifestation of your dreams is the part of you that is on the fence on any of these questions.  Seek to understand your obstacles and then work through them.  Anything is possible.

faith is the secret

Trusting that the universe knows better than you do about what is
best for the evolution of your soul is the key to inner peace.

I hang my hat on this belief day after day.  I call it faith. It keeps me from falling down in disappointment when things don’t go the way I want.  It gives me the courage to continue to follow my heart instead of getting a “real job” when it seems my business isn’t growing fast enough.  It led me to stop wigging out when a guy I was attracted to didn’t call me again after what I thought was a great first date.

You’ve probably heard the adage, “Everything happens for a reason.” What that means is there is something for you to learn or grow from in any situation.  If you’ve been struggling with attracting the right job or partner despite all your efforts of putting yourself out there, perhaps you’ve not yet fully defined in your own mind what the right criteria is.  Or maybe you’re trying to force something to happen that just isn’t meant to be or there are other things you need to accomplish first. When you can get to the point where you can surrender in faith that whatever is unfolding is happening for your higher good, you turn yourself over to the divine flow.  Life then becomes much easier because you are going with the flow instead of fighting against it.  Try practicing it yourself.  When something doesn’t go your way, turn it over and let it go in faith.
